During that Zoom call with reporters, Herman emphasized that he and his staff kept the overall size of the class relatively small in order to add graduate or other transfers with the still-looming possibility of a one-time blanket transfer waiver. ....

Texas added four-star cornerback Ishmael Ibraheem and a pair of three-stars, wide receiver Keithron Lee and defensive end David Abiara, on Wednesday afternoon. The Longhorns finished the 2021 recruiting cycle with the No. 17-ranked class in the nation according to 247Sports, their worst ranking since 2017 in former head coach Tom Herman’s transition class. Despite the lower ranking, Sarkisian said the real value of this class won’t be known until years down the line. ....

His most recent hire is Chris Ash, 247Sports reports. Ash was most recently the defensive coordinator for the Texas Longhorns – what amounted to a short-lived one-year gig under the last of former head coach Tom Herman’s tenure. Prior to his time in Austin, Ash was the head coach for the Rutgers Knights. He previously worked as an assistant coach with Meyer while he was the head guy for the Ohio State Buckeyes. ....
