The State Coroner has found that full-time national serviceman (NSF) Dave Lee Han Xuan, 19, died of heatstroke in 2018 and that there was no basis to suspect foul play in the case.
Giving her findings yesterday following an inquiry, State Coroner Kamala Ponnampalam also said he had no medical history which predisposed him to heatstroke.

A five-member panel was convened in May 2018 to review the existing strategy for heat injury prevention and management in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) after the death of 19-year-old full-time national serviceman Dave Lee Han Xuan.
He died of heatstroke in April 2018 and was promoted to corporal first class posthumously.

A full-time national serviceman (NSF) who died of heatstroke in April 2018 was taken to a medical centre 40 minutes after he was seen with signs of heat injury, investigations revealed.
The delay in the evacuation was a contributing factor in Corporal First Class (CFC) Dave Lee Han Xuan s death, the state coroner heard yesterday in an inquiry into the NSF s death.
