The Federal Reserve is the engine that drives one of the biggest, most powerful governments in the history of the world. Without the Fed, it would be difficult, if not impossible, for the government to fund its foreign wars, its massive, unsustainable social programs, the ever-growing police state, and the tangled web of corporate welfare programs. It’s almost certain none of this would exist as we know it today – not even close. The federal government would truly be limited. Although the Federal Reserve is relatively new within the scope of American history, its roots go back to the early days of the republic and the First Bank of the United States, chartered by Congress on Feb. 25, 1791. 

Fourth grader wins Edgecomb Eddy spelling bee

BILL PEARSON Tue, 03/02/2021 - 3:00pm Bee Master Nancy Rose led the Edgecomb Eddy School Spelling Bee Feb. 26 which saw fourth grader Jillian Murray, center, claim the title. Fourth grader John Cooper is also pictured. Courtesy photo March 1 was the hundredth day of the Edgecomb Eddy school year. Principal Ira Michaud reported the day was filled exciting fun educational activities. But the 99th day was also an important date on the school calendar. Edgecomb Eddy held its annual spelling bee via Zoom conference. This year’s champion speller is fourth grader Jillian Murray who successfully spelled “brambles” in claiming the title. Hattie Tomko was the runner-up.
