Davao City medical frontliners get second dose of COVID vaccine

Published April 8, 2021, 4:47 PM DAVAO CITY – The Vaccination Cluster here has started giving the second dose of the anti-COVID vaccine to medical frontliners who were inoculated with Sinovac’s CoronaVac last month. “These are the frontliners who were vaccinated March 8 onwards at the Mabini Elementary School last month,” said Vaccination Cluster head Dr. Josephine Villafuerte in a statement Wednesday. Villafuerte said 4,557 private healthcare workers will receive the second dose of Sinovac vaccine from April 7 to April 13. The medical healthcare workers receiving the second dose of the anti-COVID vaccine include those from the Davao Doctor’s Hospital (DDH), San Pedro Hospital (SPH), Brokenshire Hospital, Metro Davao Medical and Research Center (MDMRC), Davao Medical School Foundation (DMSF), Limso Hospital, Davao Adventist Hospital, Holy Spirit Community Hospital, Davao One World Diagnostic Center, the City Health Office (CHO), and infirmaries and private clinics.

City eyes to vaccinate all private hospital workers March 14

Of this number, around 85 percent of them have already received the anti-Covid vaccine as of March 11. Since the Covid-19 vaccination rollout for private hospitals on Monday, March 8, around 2,028 were inoculated with the Sinovac vaccine. The number is about 85 percent of the targeted 2,400 healthcare workers from private hospitals to receive the shots. Davao City Covid-19 Vaccine Cluster head Dr. Josephine Villafuerte said that vaccination to all private hospital workers will be completed on Sunday. We have started the vaccination of tertiary hospitals last Monday while the level two hospitals and the other healthcare facilities like infirmaries, small stand-alone clinics, started on Wednesday, Villafuerte said.

No case yet of new coronavirus strain in Davao City

SunStar Photo by Associated Press February 11, 2021 THE Davao City Health Office (CHO) has not received any report of infection from a new variant of Covid-19 in the city based on its recent updates from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), acting CHO Head Dr. Ashley Lopez said in a radio interview on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. Lopez said samples tested from Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) and Davao One World Diagnostic Center were sent to Philippine Genome Center (PGC) in Manila for genome sequencing. However, results have not yet been sent back to them because of technical problems with the machine being used to process the specimen for the confirmatory tests.

Covid-19 lab at Davao airport starts operations

January 19, 2021 THE Covid-19 molecular laboratory at the Francisco Bangoy International Airport (FBIA), recently accredited by the Department of Health (DOH), will start running its reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests, but it will not be intended for arriving passengers, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said. Duterte-Carpio said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday, January 18, that the city got its license to operate the airport lab on Friday, January 15. The laboratory can now process specimens of suspected or probable Covid-19 patients. The laboratory was donated by the United Laboratories in September 2020. Before the official DOH accreditation, the laboratory was used for the training of medical technologists and validation of result purposes, but not for testing for the City Government.
