Couple sentenced to death for murdering daughter in Terengganu

KUALA TERENGGANU (Bernama): A married couple was sentenced to death by hanging after they were found guilty of murdering their daughter five years ago.
Judge Datuk Zainal Azman Abd Aziz meted out the sentence on Anuar Yusof, 55 and his wife, Murni Ahmad, 40, who was the stepmother to the victim, Siti Hajar, 22, after finding that the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubt against the prosecution’s case.
In his judgment, Zainal Azman said based on the victim’s physical condition, it clearly showed that she had been left without sufficient food for too long, her health was neglected and she was abused till she only weighed around 18kg. ....

KUANTAN (Bernama): The High Court here increased the fine of RM100 meted out to a youth to RM1,000, for violating the movement control order by leaving his house to carry his girlfriend’s body to a garage near her home after being involved in a road accident last year.
Judge Datuk Zainal Azman Ab Aziz made the ruling after allowing the prosecution’s appeal against the RM100 fine imposed on the 17-year-old by the Rompin Magistrate s Court on July 16 last year, after he pleaded guilty to violating the MCO by being outside the house at 3.15am on April 12 last year. ....
