Pahang govt appeals for more vaccine sign-ups to ensure adequate supply

KUANTAN: The Pahang government is not compelling the public to take the Covid-19 vaccine injection and is only asking that they sign up for it first.
Following the circulation of an announcement to that effect, state secretary Datuk Seri Dr Sallehuddin Ishak cleared up the matter, saying that the Pahang government would comply with the Federal Government s policy of not making vaccination mandatory.
There s a lot of noise on social media asking why the state government is forcing the people to register.
Firstly, the state government will not force anyone to take the vaccine. It s a personal choice.
Secondly, the vaccine is dispensed to each locality, district and vaccination centre based on registration. ....

Several 'missing' Taman Tanah Putih Baru residents have returned home

KUANTAN: Fifty-eight of the 200 Taman Tanah Putih Baru residents who were said to have gone missing before the housing estate was placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) on May 5, have returned to their homes.
Pahang state secretary Datuk Seri Dr Sallehuddin Ishak (
pix) said it is learned that the group had also undergone Covid-19 screening as required.
“We do not know why they left their homes just before the EMCO was enforced but we hope those who are still away will return to undergo screening by tomorrow or contact the police to inform their whereabouts for further action. ....

Hotel sector employees vaccinated, not only workers from Genting Group, says Pahang disaster management committee

KUANTAN: Workers from the hotel sector in Pahang were vaccinated as part of an effort to stimulate the state s economic and support sectors, says the state disaster management committee.
In response to a statement from Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, the committee explained that 3,036 individuals, comprising housekeepers, cleaners and maintenance workers from the hotel sector in six districts, were vaccinated and they were not only workers from the Genting Group.
Khairy denied on Wednesday (April 28) that he had ordered that staff members of Genting Group be vaccinated against Covid-19.
He said instead that workers in the Pahang tourism sector were vaccinated by the state Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) only after the first dose of immunisation for frontliners listed in the first phase priority group was completed. ....
