KULAI, May 12 Inspections at police roadblocks (SJRs) in conjunction with Aidilfitri had to be tightened, in view of many tricks used by members of the public in their attempt to ‘balik kampung’ (return to hometown) for the holidays, said Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director, Datuk Seri Abd Rahim Jaafar.
He said that the police understood the sentiment of those who had to line up or be stuck for two to three hours at roadblocks, but said that the move was necessary to ensure that the government’s directives to break the Covid-19 infection chain were successful. ....

KUANTAN: A total of 1,333 vehicles attempting interstate travel nationwide were ordered to turn back yesterday, said Bukit Aman Department of Internal Security and Public Order director Datuk Seri Abd Rahim Jaafar.
He said there were those who tried to go through the roadblocks with permission forms that did not have a signature and stamp from the police.
“Some of them were trying their luck. perhaps thinking policemen will overlook and so on,“ he told reporters after inspecting the roadblock in Tanjung Lumpur, here, today, which was also attended by Kuantan District Police chief ACP Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali. ....

Hired killer might have been involved in bomoh's murder

TEMERLOH: The murder of a traditional medical practitioner in Kuantan on Sunday, is believed to have been executed by a hired killer who shot the victim several times, while he was treating patients at his house at Bukit Rangin Perdana 2.
Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said the victim, Mohamad Abdul Rahim Nasri, 31, is believed to have been killed in front of a couple, who are now being remanded until April 13 to help with the investigations.
“Early investigations revealed that the suspect, who was wearing a mask, greeted with salam and immediately fired shots at Mohamad Abdul Rahim. ....
