KOTA KINABALU: A former president of the Sabah Law Society (SLS) said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s remarks yesterday concerning the state’s right to 40 per cent of revenue is inappropriate and insulting to Sabahans, even as the state government is engaged in a lawsuit against the federal government.
KUALA LUMPUR: The 40% net revenue payment owed to Sabah is stipulated in the Federal Constitution, unlike claims arising from other states in Peninsular Malaysia, said Parti Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
Despite its significant population of nearly 4 million, representing 10pc of Malaysia’s total, a persistent fallacy claims Sabah’s population is too small for significant economic impact. This misconception impedes Sabah’s development and hinders its potential for sustainable growth.
