CHULA VISTA, Calif. A 19-year-old from Oregon was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of taking a 12-year-old Chula Vista girl away from her home for sexual purposes, authorities reported Monday.
Darrien Jenkins allegedly traveled to San Diego County on Sunday to meet with the child, according to the Chula Vista Police Department. The victim told family members she wanted to ride her bicycle and would be outside, CVPD Lt. Dan Peak said. The family then observed the bike still at the residence and was unable to locate the victim. The family then contacted (the police) regarding a possible kidnapping.

CVPD said the two had met on the online gaming platform, Discord, and Jenkins traveled from Oregon to Chula Vista to see her. At the time of their online communication, Jenkins believed the girl to be 19 years old.
Their location was later pinpointed as they were heading northbound on the Interstate 5 in Stockton, California, about 80 miles east of San Francisco, the department said.
CHP pulled Jenkin s vehicle over and he was arrested. He remains in custody at San Joaquin County Jail and it is unclear if he will be extradited to San Diego County to face charges.

EUGENE, Ore. – A kidnapped California girl is safe with the help of the Eugene Police Department and other law enforcement agencies.
A 12-year-old was reported missing on May 2 from her home in Chula Vista in Southern California.
Investigation discovered the victim met a man on the gaming platform Discord and began an online relationship, police said. The man then traveled from Oregon to Chula Vista to meet the girl.
The family told police the girl told them she was going outside to ride her bicycle, but the family later noticed the bike was still at the home and were unable to find the girl, so they contacted police.
