yerba buena island. as these fires go uphill, we need to take a natural fire break to secure it so we can jump the hill. so far, no word on what caused those fires. it s unclear what sparked a two-alarm grass fire up in marin county. it was reported about 4:00 yesterday afternoon in a hilly part of larkspur near sunrise lane and marina vista avenue. crews were able to get it under control in about an hour. as you can see from this amateur video cal fire helped fight the fire by getting water from a nearby lagoon. there are no reports of damage or injuries from any of the fires. parts of the bay area were rattled a bit last night by a minor earthquake. the 3.0 magnitude tremor hit about 9:26 p.m. centered about 2 miles northeast of berkeley. despite the low magnitude, a surprising number of people called the newsroom to say they felt something. it looks like bart negotiations will go down to the wire again. the cooling-off period ends at midnight thursday. kp ....
