NAROWAL: Sikh pilgrims celebrated the 322nd Baisakhi Mela at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur, on Monday. Up to 818 Sikhs from India came to border town Kartarpur through the corridor in a procession. They will leave for India after an overnight stay at the holy place. Other than India, pilgrims from Pakistan, Dubai, the US and Canada were also at the Baisakhi festival. Those entering Pakistan through the corridor were received by the Kartarpur administration, officials and the members of Pakistan Waqf Property Board. The staff showered rose petals on them and wore them garlands. Sikh pilgrims from all over the world come to Kartarpur to visit Baba Guru Nanak’s Gurdwara. They bow and lay flowers at Baba Guru Nanak’s Samadhi and tomb. Sikh Sangats perform religious rites. ....
Sikhs deserve global support The state-sponsored 1984 Sikh genocide remains one of the most blood-curdling episodes of carnage in the modern history. Pertinently, the pogrom happened when the fascist Hindutva forces were still three decades away from taking control of the Indian politics and India’s institutions. The wanton attack killed thousands of civilians, turning the Golden Temple, or Darbar Sahab as the Sikhs fondly call it, into a large pool of blood littered with human bodies. Indian Army soldiers in a brazen display of arrogance and insensitivity took pictures with dead bodies as war trophies. This shook the Sikhs the world over. They had never thought that a nation that they had watered and nurtured with their sweat and blood would treat them in such gory ....
Boxer Amir Khan demands India to allow Sikhs to visit Pakistan Top Story December 17, 2020 RAWALPINDI: The internationally-famed British boxer Amir Khan, who visited the Kartarpur Corridor and Gurdwara Darbar Sahab on Wednesday, hailed Pakistan for promoting inter-faith harmony.“Gurdwara Darbar Sahab here is a true reflection of promotion of inter-faith harmony in Pakistan,” Amir Khan said. To the contrary, Khan observed that India was undertaking anti-minority measures and suppressing them. “Whether it is the case of Indian Occupied Kashmir, Babari Masjid or Sikh community, the Indian authorities are involved in anti-minority measures,” he added. The boxer demanded the Indian government to open gates for the Sikh community to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahab in Pakistan. Khan noted that Pakistan has been providing complete religious freedom to all the minorities. ....
