Brigham Young University was recognized by the National Science Foundation for preparing more future Ph.D. students in foreign languages and business management than any other American college. Data shared by the foundation also shows that BYU graduates have greater success earning doctorates in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, psychology, education research and other fields of study. Over the past 10 years, 241 BYU alumni completed a Ph.D. in business management and administration. This was 250% more than their closest competitor, the University of Pennsylvania, whose alumni produced 95 Ph.D.s in the same time period. As for foreign languages, BYU is unusually bilingual. Now a successful fourth-year business Ph.D. student at the University of Michigan, BYU alum Hilary Hendricks can remember earlier days when having moved her family across the country to attend a top program she felt herself unequal to the challenges of doctoral study. What kept her going were her mentors from her previous time as a BYU MBA student.
“I’d be walking across campus in Ann Arbor thinking, ‘There’s just no way I can do this.’ But then I’d think, ‘John Bingham thinks you can do this. Kristen DeTienne thinks you can do this, Brad Agle and Jeff Thompson think you can do this.’ I would recite to myself all of the professors at BYU who helped me to get where I was.” ....

Racist and baseless: Facebook posts about Wabaseemoong COVID-19 outbreak causing harm in Kenora, Ont.


Wabaseemoong members and leaders are asking people to stop the racial discrimination and to show compassion for those working hard to contain the outbreak.
Be more understanding of their needs, said Dennie Courchene, a member of Wabaseemoong Independent Nations who has lived in Kenora for several years. It doesn t have to get racially discriminatory or ugly like that. We ve got to stand up for one another.

Wabaseemoong Chief Waylon Scott, alongside a number of former chiefs, released a video on Feb. 10 informing the public that a number of people had tested positive for COVID-19 in the community of more than 2,000. Kenora Chiefs Advisory acquires decommissioned ambulances for mobile COVID testing

An organization that provides health and social services to First Nations in the Kenora area has found a novel way to bring COVID-19 testing to its communities.
Partners of the Kenora Chiefs Advisory reached out to paramedic services across the province to see if they had any decommissioned ambulances available – and three of them responded to the call, said Daphne Armstrong, the director of strategy and innovation for the organization. ....
