robbed by a man who also threatened to killer. we have learned the suspect is no stranger to the area and he has a history of arrests for vientd violent crimes. reporter: the suspect is a 28-year-old homeless man who is often seen begging for money or picking up cigarettes off the ground. one business owner tells us he was a nuisance but never knew he had a violent past. it was a shock for me. reporter: maurice scott is no stranger to this staten island neighborhood. restaurant manager miguel tests us the homeless man would often beg his customers for money. he claims the 28-year-old once stole items from his car. he used to ask for the money. i said listen, don t bother my customers. reporter: police say on friday scott entered an unlocked office building after hours, then raped and robbed a this man works in the building. he tells us scott told her he was responding to a help wanted ad posted outside. evidently that s how he got in. reporter: most businesses
