Monmouth rallies past Cornell on Tuesday MONMOUTH, ILL. (04/25/2023) The Monmouth College baseball team rallied for a 6-5 walk-off win over Cornell College in 10 innings on Wednesday. The Scots (14-19, 9-12) scored six unanswered runs to win the game with Daniel Lummus (New Port Richey, Florida) delivering the game-winning single. Cornell started the game with a leadoff home run and added two more runs in the third. They plated a pair in the top of the fourth for a 5-0 lead against Monmouth starting pitcher Cade Sharp (Aledo, Illinois). Reliever Toby Turnqust (Monmouth, Illinois) took over in the fourth and prevented the Rams from adding on. The Scots got the offense going in the fifth inning. MONMOUTH, ILL. (04/11/2023) The Monmouth College baseball team walked-off Knox 12-2 on the mercy rule Tuesday with a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. The Fighting Scots (9-14, 4-7) swept the season series against the Prairie Fire and have won two games in a row overall. Knox hit a solo homer in the first inning against Tim McNally (Paw Paw, Illinois) and pushed the lead to 2-0 with a run in the second. Monmouth got the bats going in the bottom of the second. With Logan Komater (Ottawa, Illinois) and Nate Reed (Chenoa, Illinois) on base, Christian Centeno (Miami, Florida) tripled to right, tying the game.
