The Saugerties Central School District is reviewing a divisive ninth-grade class assignment regarding Derek Chauvin s trial, which raised concerns among students and parents.
English teacher Hope Antonelli asked students to respond to a prompt in a Regent s exam format. She asked them to use phrases like it is evident, it is clear, and it is obvious. Students needed to justify their claim with a bold topic and thematic sentence to the following prompt:
