One of the busiest days of the year for pub-goers was made that little bit livelier by the presence of ‘Wren Boys’ from Danescastle Music Group this St Stephen’s Day. Reviving a tradition which dates back centuries, the wrens travelled to pubs across south Wexford bedecked in straw hats and suitable attire as they played traditional music for patrons.
With community being something that was valued very highly indeed by the late councillor Leo Carthy, the level of volunteerism and community spirit which goes into the annual festival which bears his name is a fitting legacy.
Carrig on Bannow played host to the 31st Phil Murphy Weekend with a huge line up of bands and acts, culminating in the launch of a new CD by local group Tulua.
