The Chinese ambassador to Nepal had made both public and backchannel efforts last year to keep Oli and Prachanda together. Later, China even sent a top diplomat to keep the party unified. Nepal has plunged into yet another political crisis, putting China, Kathmandu’s northern neighbour, on the backfoot.
