The graceful dance of the Lipizzaner Stallions is a breathtaking ballet over 400 years in the making. So they can be forgiven, even applauded, for putting on airs for a crowd a highlight of the performance is their spectacular leaps and maneuvers known as Airs Above the Ground, which were born in the fury of the battlefield.
Now these stunning maneuvers are preserved as an equestrian work of art that spectators can witness from the safety of their seats. The “World Famous” Lipizzaner Stallions will be performing July 15 and 16 in Prince George.
The Lipizzan is a rare and unique breed, its history and culture is known worldwide. The Walt Disney movie The Miracle of the White Stallions, depicting General George S. Patton saving them from extinction at the end of the Second World War, created even greater worldwide interest in the Lipizzaner breed.
