We are delighted to have two authors on stage. Camille is the author of four portrait collections and two poetry collections and two book collections. She is a University Distinguished professor at Colorado State university. Tiffany unique is the author of two novels, a book of short stories and a poetry collection. H
Still cant [inaudible] why the looting, why the violence . Angry about the way were being viewed as not people. A recent poll finds most americans believe Race Relations in this country are bad. More than 50 of whites think so. More than twothirds of blacks feel this way. People are angry. Where we go from here, i dont know. Theres one race, the human race. Weve been together and apart more than 239 years, part of this great experiment, the United States of america. [cheers and applause] there have been incredible gains on many fronts. Change has come to america. [cheers and applause] and yet we still have seen dramatic and dangerous instances. The parishioners have bibles. Dylann roof had his 45 caliber black pistol. The pain that this causes us all as a loss, this is to the entire society. Its beyond my comprehension how anybody could do the act that this young man did. A poll shows of 0 of white 60 of white people are uncomfortable discussing race with somebody of another race. The
And i preliminary hearing continues now for the februarys of i Penn State Fraternity charged in a deadly case of hazing. And now the suspect facing attempted homicide charges after setting an officer on fire. Police say that jerry jones was the man that threw a homemade explosive device causing Second Degree burns. Katherine scott is live now where the suspect was in court this morning. Reporter rick, that is right. The judge set bail at 1 million cash for jeremy jones, he told police in an interview he knew police was at the door and wanted them to go away. As for the injured sheriffs deputy and a parttime officer with the ridley parks department. He is in the hospital in good spirits and anxious to get home. 39yearold jeremy jones was arraigned in collings dale charged with multiple offenses including attempted homicide. When he through a fire bomb at officers serving a warrant. I didnt mean it. I dont even know what is going on. I really dont, and im not suppose to be talking to any
