ORANGE CITY, Iowa June 29 marks the return of the ever-popular Feedlot Forum at the Terrace View Event Center in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Built grassroots up, this forum focuses on issues critical to beef feedlot producers and cutting edge technology available from agribusiness professionals.
The past several years have been a tough road for feedlot producers. They have been challenged with market prices and market disruptions, coupled with production issues such as weather and higher-priced feeds.
This year’s theme for Feedlot Forum 2021, “Producing and Marketing in Today’s Era,” features nationally recognized speakers addressing important issues not only in production, but also in marketing. ....

MANHATTAN, KAN. – Registration is now open for the 2021 Beef Improvement Federation (BIF) Research Symposium and Convention. This year’s event will be hosted in person June 22-25 in Des Moines, Iowa.
The deadline for early registration is May 15. Attendees can save $50 by pre-registering. Registration includes a student and media option, as well as tour only. Online registration is available at http://www.BIFSymposium.com

The BIF Symposium features two and a half days of educational programming and a full day of tours. The first general session “Beef Industry: Where is it going?” will feature presentations by Michael Uetz, Midan Marketing; Jim Pillen, Pillen Family Farms; and Dr. Dan Thomson, Iowa State University Department of Animal Science chair. During the second general session the theme will be Precision Livestock Technology. Iowa State University breaks ground on turkey facility

The Iowa State University Department of Animal Science has received commitments of more than $2 million in private donations for Iowa State University’s new Turkey Teaching and Research Facility.
A groundbreaking was held on April 8 for the facility, which will be constructed north of the Robert T. Hamilton Poultry Teaching and Research Farm, located south of the Iowa State campus on 520th Avenue.
“This tremendous new turkey research, teaching and extension facility, with support from industry partners and private donors, will ensure we are providing the best hands-on education for students and the infrastructure to drive new scientific discoveries across the turkey industry,” said Dr. Dan Thomson, chair of the university’s animal science department. ....

The 2021 Beef Improvement Federation (BIF) Research Symposium and Convention program is now confirmed. This year’s event will be hosted in person June 22-25 in Des Moines, Iowa.
