Wichita State University could have a new president within the next few months. A search committee charged with finding WSU’s next leader interviewed candidates via Zoom this week and plans to send a list of finalists to the Kansas Board of Regents for consideration, said Dan Peare, chairman of the committee. Peare said the committee narrowed a list of more than 50 candidates to 10 semifinalists. Members held virtual interviews with five candidates Tuesday and five Wednesday, he said. They plan to meet as a group Friday to discuss the candidates and will likely forward three or four names to the Regents, he said. ....

Students at Kansas six state universities won t pay more for on-campus housing and dining next school year after the Kansas Board of Regents on Wednesday approved a plan to keep those fees flat. Despite higher costs and fewer students on campus because of the pandemic, officials from each of the six state universities cited a need to keep cost of attendance affordable for students, particularly as they themselves see other financial burdens from the pandemic. Average costs for modest, double-occupancy rooms with limited dining options will remain at $9,156 at Emporia State University, $8,182 at Fort Hays State University, $9,480 at Kansas State University, $9,700 at the University of Kansas, $7,956 at Pittsburg State University and $11,180 at Wichita State University. ....
