Man, 55, wounded in shooting at South Bay convenience store

CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A man was recovering Monday from a gunshot wound he suffered over the weekend during a late-night scuffle at a South Bay convenience store.
Patrol officers responding to reports of a shooting outside the 7- Eleven in the 4300 block of Main Street in Chula Vista shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday found John Oelke, 55, suffering from a gunshot wound to his left arm.
Detectives determined that Oelke and another patron had gotten into an argument over food inside the market, Lt. Dan Peak said. When Oelke left the business, the unidentified man followed him, according to the lieutenant.

CHULA VISTA, Calif. A 19-year-old from Oregon was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of taking a 12-year-old Chula Vista girl away from her home for sexual purposes, authorities reported Monday.
Darrien Jenkins allegedly traveled to San Diego County on Sunday to meet with the child, according to the Chula Vista Police Department. The victim told family members she wanted to ride her bicycle and would be outside, CVPD Lt. Dan Peak said. The family then observed the bike still at the residence and was unable to locate the victim. The family then contacted (the police) regarding a possible kidnapping.

CHULA VISTA (CNS) - An apparent gang shooting outside a South Bay convenience store left a young man wounded early Thursday.
Patrol officers responding to reports of gunfire about 12:30 a.m. found Gustavo Briseno, 19, lying in a parking lot outside the am/pm minimart in the 700 block of E Street in Chula Vista, according to police.
Paramedics took Briseno to a hospital for treatment of apparently non-life-threatening bullet injuries to his legs.
Briseno provided investigators with little information regarding what led to the shooting or . who shot him, Lt. Dan Peak said.
