Every day, Iâm out here feeding the cows, taking care of them, and every day itâs something different.â Hinz, chairperson of the Winnebago County Dairy Promotion Committee, has faced all kinds of challenges over the years. The COVID-19 pandemic has made things especially unpredictable, he said. âItâs still been a roller coaster ride for prices, and markets have been real volatile, said Hinz. Feed prices have gone up drastically and milk prices have been bouncing all over, up and down. Itâs still been crazy times.â ....
OLEAN â Staff and volunteers with Genesis Houseâs annual luminary sales were pleased with the help provided for the annual lighting of luminaries Saturday, but had hoped to sell more of the items to benefit the homeless shelter. âWe made half of what we usually do,â said Pat OâMalley, chairman of the Genesis House board. âThe ornaments and lanterns are still available for sale (for $10 each) at Genesis Houseâ at 107 S. Barry St. The additional sales are hoped to make up the difference in funds needed for continuing operation. The luminary event included the lighting of candles in hundreds of paper bags weighed down by sand in Lincoln Park located across from Genesis House in downtown Olean. ....
