In late January, months of feuding at New York City’s Dalton School spilled into public view. In an anonymous letter, a group of alumni and parents wrote that the school they had long loved was abandoning real education in favor of “an obsessive focus on race and identity” in every class.
In particular, the letter’s authors blame Pollyanna, a New York-based Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) nonprofit. The consultancy’s “racial literacy” curriculum, the letter claimed, “has already permeated Dalton classes from social studies to science” and contributed to “some of the worst abuses this year” incidents like the one in which a Jewish student was forced to play the “racist cop” in science class, or the art class on “decentering whiteness.” ....

Starting March 11, teachers, early educators, and school staff members will be able to try to sign up for COVID-19 vaccine appointments through any of the state s 170 vaccination sites and mass vaccination sites plan to block off certain days to vaccinate educators, Gov. Charlie Baker said Wednesday morning.
The announcement comes as Baker and Education Commissioner Jeff Riley push for full-time, in-person education at all Massachusetts elementary schools by next month and after teachers unions ramped up a campaign backed by legislative leaders to get more of their members vaccinated sooner. ....

Needham High School closed after COVID cases drain contact tracing resources

Wicked Local
Needham High School closed Friday after a spike in COVID-19 cases identified among staff and students overwhelmed the school district’s contact tracing protocol.
Shortly after 8 p.m.  Thursday, Principal Aaron Sicotte announced the high school s closure on Friday after another confirmed case was identified at the school.
By Friday afternoon, Sicotte sent another email announcing, all Needham High School classes will be all remote next week, a first-time departure for the school from the school district s hybrid model that began Sept. 29, 2020.
In his email sent to the school community, Sicotte said the school district had identified 14 positive cases at the high school that week, leading to considerable student quarantines, and there remained additional cases that are pending and may result in more positive students and additional contact tracing that will be necessary. .  ....
