(USF) – The University of Sioux Falls Softball Team (21-22, 15-14 NSIC) battled the second place team in the NSIC but dropped a doubleheader to Minnesota State (34-7, 23-5 NSIC), 6-3, 1-0 on Sunday to conclude the regular season. USF finished the season at 15-14 in league play and was 21-22 overall. USF lost 6-3, and 1-0 to Minnesota State. The games today were the final regular season for six seniors – Frankie Mickelson, Cassie Van Beek, Emily Cheloha, Rachel Klassen, Mika Rodriguez and Emmie Uitts. USF, which finished ninth in the league, will be the ninth seed in the league tournament and face No. 8 seed Minot State on Thursday (May 13) in Rochester, Minn. ....
NSIC & Summit Weekend Games Adjusted, Canceled January 28 - According to Dan Genzler of USF, the games on January 29-30 involving No. 19 University of Sioux Falls Men s Basketball and Minnesota State, Mankato at the Bresnan Arena in Mankato, Minn., have been adjusted due to COVID-19 testing protocols. The original schedule called for USF-MSU to play games on January 29-30 but due to testing protocols, the schedule has been adjusted to play one day at 2 pm, Sunday, January 31 at Mankato, Minn., contingent on testing protocols. (KWSN.com) Led by three players in double digits, including 16 points from junior Chase Grinde, the No. 24 University of Sioux Falls Men’s Basketball team (1-0, 0-0 NSIC) had a successful season opener with a 64-60 victory against the University of Mary (0-1, 0-0 NSIC) on Saturday afternoon at the Stewart Center. Aside from Grinde, the Cougars, which won its opener for the third straight year, had 13 points, six rebounds and a team-high three blocks from senior forward Teathloach Pal. Freshman Wesley Oba had 11 points, all in the first half. USF Head Coach Chris Johnson, who recorded his 234th career win, including 218 at USF, was pleased with the overall effort of his team, especially the younger players on the squad. ....
