[inaudible] i don t know what has been said, but i would like to maybe so has already raised this point. i don t really see, i don t see how the age of twitter, if that s what age we are in, obviates long-form journalism. first of all i m reminded of one of the great jazz trumpeter s luster was asked, what do we know about jazz? he said it depends on what you know. if you want long form listen, it s out there in many forms. to the extent it is as much as used the, many things besides twitter are at fault. but there, i think twitter can actually be a facilitator to all forms of journalism. i know, you know, listen, i ve also people like stephen colbert just because it s fun. i follow a lot of people because i know that they will link me to interesting articles about ukraine or cyberwarfare or something that i m otherwise going to miss. and so i say twitter you know, used in a certain way. and i assume as most of you, see it as a great facilitator, a new kind of curator that

really cares about what a difference $100 or $200 a month in food stamps make to a family that s really poor. host: professor nestle, how did you get interested in these topics? guest: first of all, i like to eat, so i have always been interested in food. the very first course that i taught on food and nutrition, you really can t understand anything about why people eat the way they do unless you understand the politics of food. because people don t eat food in a vacuum. they don t make choices in a vacuum. they make choices based on what s available, how much money they have, but their friends are eating, but the culture requires and a lot of it gets into arcane politics. the most arcane politics i can think of is sugar subsidies for sugar tariffs and quote as. our sugar policy is extraordinary complicated. the farm bill is beyond complication. anybody who tells me they understand the farm bill, i just think they don t know what they re talking about. nobody can understa
