The private turf area in front of the stage will now have 600 individual seats. Each ticket will cost $14.99 for a concert and movie. The party tent where pre-concert and post-concert parties are held will also be open. “We’re excited to give more people these affordable, upfront individual tickets versus making them purchase a party pad for 10 as originally required by the health department,” said Dan Buck, Managing Partner of Big Sports Properties. One version of the story goes, Harvey Logan, aka Kid Curry, the Sundance Kid, and Flat Nose George Currie decided to rob the Union Pacific at the remote station at Wilcox. I ran this by author-historian Dan Buck and he speaks from experience, “I am from harsh experience, not adamant about who was in on which Old West holdup, especially when all we have are eyewitness accounts, police murmurs, or newspaper reports. all in their own way unreliable. The best evidence is: Killed at the scene; second best, arrested later for passing bank notes from the robbery. In any event, the best evidence for Harvey Logan is that his brother and cousin ended up in possession of Wilcox banknotes. Beyond that, it’s speculative. The 12-acre parking lot at POWERplex will undergo a transformation in the next few weeks when large screens and a performance stage will be set up for 25 weeks of concerts, movies, graduations, galas and special events. Last year, POWERplex was among the first drive-ins to emerge in the United States amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release. Drive-In St. Louis hosted more than 25 events, including 13 high school graduations where nearly 3,500 seniors crossed the stage. Nearly 60,000 people attended commencements, concerts and movie nights, the release stated. ....

The St. Louis County Council voted to approve $6 million from the county s Convention and Recreation trust fund for the development of the POWERplex. In Tuesday night s meeting, the council voted 6-1 in favor of an ordinance that would set aside $6 million of unappropriated funds for the development that would transform the mostly vacant St. Louis Outlet Mall into a multi-sport facility. The developer of POWERplex said the $6 million from St. Louis County s hotel tax only accounts for 10% of project costs but said it s vital to the total funding package. ....
