Anne macovick. The dmv was packed with undocumented residents, that smbl will make some believe will make our streets safer. Reporter the lines started forming around 4 00 this morning, probably most of them emigrants who have a chance to be able to drive legally. This is the only process taking walk in applicants. Undocumented immigrants will need to show a birth certificate or a passport and proof they live in the state. They wont get their license today, but they will be taking a written test and later take the driving test at another dmv location. Critics say this will encourage more people to come legally but the state argues it will make roads and highways safer. We want to make sure everyone whos driving on our roads and highways in the state of california is licensed. Its always a risk and youre invading privacy because you can get your car towed and its a lot of things could happen without a drivers license.
