Wanted Suspect Arrested At Gunpoint On 5 Freeway After Assaulting LAPD Officer A wanted suspect was taken into custody at gunpoint on the 5 Freeway south of the Newhall Pass Monday evening after he allegedly assaulted a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer earlier in the day. Around 4:50 p.m. Monday, deputies were made aware of a vehicle wanted for assault on a LAPD officer traveling eastbound on Soledad Canyon Road near Commuter Way in Canyon Country, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. A deputy was able to locate the vehicle on Newhall Avenue near Sierra Highway, and requested emergency backup to his location prior to conducting a felony traffic stop, according to officials. ....
