Some DIY and specialised stores in Lithuania have been setting up food aisles to stay open during lockdown, drawing criticism from small firms that have been forced to shut as well as the government.
Under the nationwide lockdown, which came into effect on Wednesday, only shops that sell food, drugs, and medical and veterinary supplies are allowed to stay open.

As crowds of people flocked to shopping malls before the lockdown on Wednesday, small businesses in Lithuania see unfair competition and fear bankruptcies.
We are completely ready [for the restrictions], because this is not something new anymore, we experienced the same during the first quarantine [in spring],” said Dovilė Lengvenienė, head of marketing at Urmas, the largest shopping centre in Lithuania s second biggest city Kaunas.
