Oil and gas 'restoration economy' underway in B.C., says OGC | Energeticcity.ca


“Industry’s got a big role and a lot of activity in this space,” Jeakins said.
“B.C. will ensure that industry will be restoring sites as they develop new areas. We can now track planned restoration by company and start to predict how that’s going to play out over time.”
The OGC has set 10-year reclamation timelines for wells under its care, with plans to shorten that where possible, Jeakins said.
“Naturally we’re going to make every effort to reduce that timeline, and staff are busy working on what that could look like,” Jeakins said. “It’s a combination of crews, money, scheduling, there’s a lot of that going on.” ....

New safe and secure homes with around-the-clock supports are available for people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness in Dawson Creek, following the opening of a new supportive housing building in the community. 
Mayor Dale Bumstead says, “The development of this new facility, in partnership with the Province of BC, BC Housing, the City Of Dawson Creek and South Peace Community Resources Society, will provide incredible support for those in need in our community. We are so impressed and pleased with how quickly this project has come to completion and now providing safe modern accommodation for vulnerable residents in our city.”  ....

With signs on the B.C.-Alberta border the only thing to deter our provincial neighbours from vacationing here, there’s growing concern that Alberta’s high COVID-19 rates could spill into B.C., just as cases edge downward here.
Alberta has more than 23,000 active COVID-19 infections and has the highest case rate of any jurisdiction in North America. A record 154 infected people were in intensive care on Monday.
