Augustana stops WSU’s winning streak (2/3/2021)
Having won their last three games in closely contested fashion, the Winona State University (WSU) men’s basketball team found itself in a similar situation on Sunday, Jan. 24, against Augustana University in the second of a two-game series in Sioux Falls.
Unfortunately for the Warriors, Sunday’s version did not follow the script of the previous three and Augustana dealt Winona State a 73-63 loss, stopping the WSU winning streak at three games.
The teams were tied 33-33 at the half, but foul trouble defensively and a lack of trips to the foul line on offense combined to derail the Warriors’ hope of sweep in Sioux Falls.
Taylor shines, but Winona State men fall at Duluth

Kevion Taylor scored 23 points on 8-14 shooting but the rest of the Warrior men’s basketball team couldn’t get going in its season opener Saturday, resulting in an 81-59 loss at Duluth.
Beyond Taylor’s performance, only Dalante Peyton scored double figures (11 points) for the Warriors, who shot 41 percent from the floor overall.
Former Caledonia star Owen King had a tough team debut, finishing without a point and going 0-7 from the field.
Duluth got 27 points from Stevens Point native Drew Blair, who hit six of nine three-point attempts.
