The beef barn complex was destroyed by fire October 31 last year. Its footprint is now completely clear and now waits for time to pass and actions to fall into place. $200,000 from Huron Community Foundation and Greater Huron Development corporation are matched dollar for dollar towards the fund drive. We continue ours series the Daily Dex as we hear from users of the old beef barn on the SD State Fairgrounds. The 19 million dollar price tag for the Dakota Events Complex comes together with 12 million dollars from the state of South Dakota, 3 million dollars from the beef barn insurance and 4 million dollars from local and statewide users and contributors. A 10 day pledge drive for a 4 million dollar local and statewide amount to match additional amounts of 15 million dollars for the planned Dakota Events Complex is underway. The DEX would replace the beef complex on the SD State Fairground lost to a fire last year. Huron Chamber and Visitors Bureau, Greater Huron Development Corporation and Huron Community Foundation got together to talk about the “Daily DEX” a series that past users of the beef complex reflect on their experiences there and what they look forward to when the Dakota Events Complex is built.
