This means the football and basketball programs will be allowed to host official and unofficial visitors this month, and again during the season. Michigan football is looking to cement its in-state recruiting first by hosting a “Detroit Day” on June 2, according to The Michigan Insider’s Sam Webb ($). Along with the three in-state commits already in the class, Michigan will host 2022 targets such as four-star athlete Dillon Tatum, three-star wide receiver Antonio Gates Jr. and three-star cornerback Jeremiah Caldwell. ....

The Michigan Wolverines sealed the deal last week with former Kentucky defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale as a last-minute replacement for Maurice Linguist. Now, we know what it took for head coach Jim Harbaugh and the program to make the hire happen. Clinkscale signed a three-year contract with Michigan that will pay him at least $600,000 per year, according to the findings from a FOIA request by MLive. A pay bump and title change could also come for him if this year’s pass defense ranks in the top 25 in the country. That would raise his salary to $700,000 and earn him the co-defensive coordinator title that Linguist carried before leaving for Buffalo. ....
