PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) Two deadly shootings and an attempted carjacking are among the latest incidents under investigation by Philadelphia police on Sunday night. Police say around 7:08 p.m., an 18-year-old man died after being shot in the chest on the 1800 block of Sullis Street. No arrests have been made at this time. Around 5:17 p.m., police say a woman was shot in the city s Olney section. She was found shot multiple times across her body. She was rushed to an area hospital where she later died. It s still unclear where the woman was shot in Olney, but officers held two crime scenes in connection with the shooting: one on the 5300 block of North 5th Street and another on the 400 block of West Fisher Street. ....

Monday, October 5, 2020 was a workday for 21-year-old Daejour Smith. He was at the Lowe s on Columbus Boulevard in South Philadelphia. He was assisting customers, handling the carts, and things like that, said his mother, Deborah Smith. It was shortly after 1 p.m. when his mother said a car pulled up to Daejour. What the detective has shared thus far is he didn t stand a chance. That the car just drove up, somebody got out the car, and they came to him and approached him, Deborah said. ....

Nichols is from a part of South Philadelphia that has been embroiled in a shooting conflict for as long as anyone can remember. In October 2018, that violence claimed her 15-year-old grandson.
