Taipei Symphony Orchestra to open new season with Beethoven symphonies

Taipei, Feb. 23 (CNA) The Taipei Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to open its new season on March 5 with a concert of two Beethoven symphonies, after COVID-19 forced the orchestra to changes its plans.
The original intention was to invite foreign musicians, but they were unable to travel to Taiwan because of the country s quarantine rules, its principal conductor said Tuesday. I said, why don t we do two symphonies, and we don t need a soloist, Eliahu Inbal told reporters, explaining why he and the orchestra decided to play Beethoven s Symphony No. 6 and No. 7 at the season opening concert after the soloists they invited were unable to come.
