CSU, UC: Vaccine requirement crucial for campus safety


Students and faculty in two of the nation s largest university systems are expected to get vaccinated before stepping foot on campus for the fall semester. It s part of a new policy announced Thursday by the University of California and California State University systems. Together, the CSU and UC enroll and employ more than one million students and employees across 33 major university campuses, so this is the most comprehensive and consequential university plan for COVID-19 vaccines in the country, CSU Chancellor Joseph I. Castro said in a statement. The best message I can give right now is to get vaccinated, said Ed Mills, vice president of Student Affairs at Sacramento State. The vaccine is how we get back on campus. Under the new proposal, all members of the CSU and UC college community must get the COVID-19 vaccine once it is fully approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration before stepping foot on campus.Mills said the university anticipates approval sometime ....
