Cypress Mayor Peat responds to concerns about difficulties of seniors getting vaccinated


At the most recent regular Cypress City Council meeting, concerns were raised by Councilwoman Frances Marquez concerning the difficulties faced by vulnerable seniors in successfully receiving a vaccination against COVID-19. She had encountered these difficulties firsthand while trying to arrange an appointment for her own mother. She had visited two instances of the County’s mobile point-of-dispensing and brought up the possibility of the County sending a mobile point-of-dispensing to the Cypress Senior Center.
Dear Chairman Do,
I am writing with the unanimous support of the Cypress City Council on behalf of our 50,000 residents, nearly 10,000 of whom are seniors or disabled, to urge the County of Orange to prioritize a COVID-19 mobile POD distribution in Cypress and to offer our support in serving the communities of north Orange County. ....

City of Cypress announces City Council 2021 reorganization


At its December 14 meeting, the Cypress City Council selected Jon Peat as Mayor and Stacy Berry as Mayor Pro Tem for 2021. Outgoing Mayor Rob Johnson and Mayor Pro Tem Mariellen Yarc were both recognized and presented with gifts of appreciation from the City and City Manager in honor of their eight years serving as Council Members.
Mayor Jon Peat is serving his second term on the Cypress City Council. During his first term on the City Council, he also served as Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem. Mayor Peat is a leader of the Cypress Champions Baseball program, 1st Vice Chair of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Anaheim-Cypress, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Cypress. Additionally, he serves as a volunteer for the Champions Club special needs ministry and as an elder at SeaCoast Grace Church. ....
