Lala Anthony and Curtis 50 Cent Jackson are working together again. Remember he tapped her for his show, Power on Starz. Well, 50 does have a great relationship with Starz and there is a new project that s headed that way. Lala and 50 are teaming up to create a limited series about Cyntoia Brown-Long, the Jasmine Brand reports. Cyntia was sentenced to life in prison for killing a man when she was 16-years-old. She was a victim of sex trafficking at the time and thought the man involved was trying to harm her. When you think about it, he was harming her with sex trafficking. Of course over the years, many people were fighting for Cyntoia. She was granted clemency and released in 2019. Starz is developing the limited series which is based off of Cyntoia s book, Free Cyntoia: My Search for Redemption in the American Prison System.
On August 6, 2004, a then 16-year-old Brown shot and killed Johnny Michael Allen in the back of the head after she claimed he tried to coerce her into sex. Despite maintaining self-defense in the incident, she was tried as an adult, found guilty and sentenced to life in prison where she served 15 years before the aforementioned celebrity campaign in November 2017.
No timetable has been put on production as of press time. Brown’s husband Jamie Long will serve as a consultant on the project along with
Power writer Santa Sierra.

Starz Developing The Case of Cyntoia Brown Limited Series From 50 Cent
The Case of Cyntoia Brown.
The limited drama series will be inspired by the real-life story of Cyntoia Brown-Long, who served 15 years of a life sentence for killing a man when she was 16-years-old. Jackson has been a long-time supporter of Brown-Long and will lean on Santa Sierra (known for their work on
Power Book III: Raising Kanan,
Vida and
Narcos) to write the limited series. Brown-Long and her husband Jamie Long will consult on the project.
Based on Brown-Long’s book,
Free Cyntoia: My Search for Redemption in the American Prison System, the show will focus on the story of Brown-Long. She was a victim of sex trafficking at the hands of her boyfriend and was tried as an adult leading her to be sentenced to life in prison for aggravated robbery and first-degree murder. Despite her being a minor, Brown-Long’s sentence required her to serve at least 51 years before being eligible for parole.
