Cyclone Biparjoy Updates: Pakistan Meteorological Department said the cyclone has moved away from Karachi and is currently at a distance of 370 kilometres south of Sindh capital.
People living in the low lying areas of the town have been evacuated and moved to safer locations as the water in the Gomti river is rising, said fire officer Jitendra Karadiya of the Dwarka Municipality.
Cyclone Biparjoy is expected to make landfall in Gujarat's Saurashtra and Kutch regions and adjoining Pakistan coasts on Thursday. The storm is currently located over the east-central Arabian Sea, about 350 kilometers southwest of Porbandar.
The cyclone could lead to disruption of Railways, overhead power lines, and signaling systems. Crops, plantations, and orchards could also be damaged under the impact of Cyclone Biparjoy.
