Joseph M. Alberg, 33, of Cumberland passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at his home.
He was the beloved son of Philip and Mary (Dunbar) Alberg and brother of Timothy Alberg of Warwick, Matthew Alberg of Warwick, Elizabeth, and Katherine Alberg, both of Cumberland.
Born in Providence, he was a 2006 Graduate of Cumberland High School and a member of the Cumberland High School Band, the Jazz Band, and Chorus and Clef Singers.
Following graduation, he attended the University of Rhode Island where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor s Degree in Music. During his college career, Joseph was a member of the URI Concert Choir, Marching Band, and Wind Symphony. ....

Backyard chicken debate kicked to June


CUMBERLAND – A technical error on the May 12 Zoning Board agenda led the matter to be postponed by a month, meaning David Dugre and Paromita Ghosh will be back seeking permission to keep their backyard chickens on June 9.
Plenty of people showed up to the virtual meeting and what was expected to be a lengthy discussion, but Zoning Board member Bob Chaput noticed a typo in the agenda stating that the Cumberland Hill couple was looking for dimensional variance from a rear-yard setback requirement instead of required side-yard setbacks.
Essentially they re looking for permission to own a chicken coop despite being short of the required amount of property by 14 feet from side to side. ....
