Winning and emmy nominated, jean batiste, thanks for being here. whoo, sir! how you doing? i feel great. how you doing? i feel great. we ll start at the beginning. a very musical family. what did it mean growing up in the batiste family culture? tribes of new orleans culture. musical families, many family being one of the largest among many tribes of musicians, creator, culture bearers. my dad, seven brothers on my dad s side formed a family band, over 30 cousins. i was the you think yoest cousin when i was growing up, so i would be the one playing like the little bongo drums. then the drum kit eventually, and younger cousins formed the junior family band, and you have about three or four drummers. you can t have a band with three or four drummers. that s a lot of drummers.
