CRYO Shipping claims Asian LNG bunkering milestone January 27, 2021, by Adnan Bajic The Norwegian company, CRYO Shipping, has claimed a milestone earlier this week completing the largest LNG bunkering operation in Asia to date. Courtesy of CRYO Shipping The company noted it bunkered LNG to the 103,500-DWT shuttle tanker Altera Wave, in the Singapore Strait. It became the largest LNG-powered merchant ship to be supplied with LNG from a bunker vessel in Asia, Cryo Shipping said in its statement. The Norwegian registered shuttle tanker, Altera Wave, is part of a series of newbuilds developed by the shipping company, Altera Infrastructure. The LNG bunkering operation of Altera Wave was carried out in partnership with Petronas using the latter’s LNG bunkering vessel, the 7,500-cbm Avenir Advantage. The partnership allows CRYO Shipping to provide LNG bunker services in South East Asia. ....
Infrastructure developments look promising Throughout 2020, various new and existing LNG bunkering facilities globally are being developed to further boost the viability of using LNG as a marine fuel. In January, LNG solutions firm KC LNG and cryogenic equipment supplier Cryostar clinched a contract to build a LNG ship bunkering and truck fuelling facility in Belgium’s Antwerp port. In March, Lithuania’s port of Klaipeda conducted its first LNG bunkering with the supply of the clean fuel to a cement carrier from the Malkos Bay Terminal. LNG bunker supplier Cryo Shipping said it will charter a LNG bunker tanker to promote Klaipeda as a key LNG bunker port in the Baltic and introduce ship-to-ship bunkering to the market. ....
