The court in Haarlem handed down sentences ranging from one year to three years on Friday in the case of a brutal 'mistaken identity' kidnapping in Cruquius, Noord-Holland. The case revolves around the violent abduction of a then 56-year-old man from Hoofddorp. The suspects kidnapped the man, threatened him, and held him hostage for six days. It turned out he was not their intended target.
The Public Prosecution Service (OM) demanded up to seven years in prison against eight of the ten men suspected of abducting a 56-year-old man from Hoofddorp in Cruquius in 2021. The other two suspects will stand trial next month. According to the OM, the suspects kidnapped the man, threatened him, and held him hostage for six days, even though they had doubts about whether he was their intended target. He wasn’t.
Numerous water boards are opening their pumping stations and watermills to the public this weekend. It is National Pumping Station Day, which coincides with National Mill Day. Mill Day kicked off on Friday. According to the Nederlandse Gemalen Stichting (NGS), most pumping stations will be open on Saturday and Sunday.
Highlights of the tour included the works of Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Vermeer, along with the flowers of the Keukenhof tulip gardens and the windmills of Kinderdijk.
