Joanne Anderson has been elected the new Mayor of Liverpool.
With her victory, the Princes Park ward councillor has made history as the first black woman to lead any major UK city. She was elected after voting went to a tense second round, with no candidate securing the more than 50% vote share needed in the first round.
On the first round of voting, based on who people picked as their top choice for mayor of the city, she secured 38.51% of the vote.
