St Thomas' School appoints new headteacher

St Thomas School appoints new headteacher

Chris Kirk has been appointed as the new headteacher for St Thomas’ Church of England School in Douglas.
Mr Kirk moved to the Island in 1998 to set up the Crossroads Young Carers project which helps give young carers a break from their responsibilities and a chance to make the most of the childhood.
He later retrained as a primary school teacher and held positions at Michael School and Foxdale School, where he has been second in charge since 2011.
He will officially take up his role on 1 September.

Weston Lions Real Ale Festival has been cancelled for the second year in a row.

Weston s Real Ale Festival has been cancelled due to social distancing concerns, its organisers have confirmed.
This will mark the second successive year that the popular festival has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, despite lockdown restrictions easing on April 12 and a further ease in restrictions planned on May 17 and June 21.
The group s director, Kate Bach revealed that, despite hopes to return this year, the plug was pulled on the event due to concerns about the number of limitations it would face. ....
