Bung Karno dimakamkan di sebuah pemakaman umum di Kelurahan Bendogerit, Kota Blitar, sekitar 51 tahun lalu.
Patung pertama berdiri pada 2002 atau 32 tahun setelah Presiden Soekarno dimakamkan di Blitar. Patung setinggi tujuh meter itu berdiri di persimpangan Jalan A Yani dan Jalan Sumatera.
Patung berbahan beton yang dibuat tokoh pemuda Gebang dan pematung bernama Sonny Yuliono itu tak dibangun oleh Pemerintah Kota Blitar.
Sonny mengatakan, patung itu dibuat dengan biaya swadaya masyarakat lingkungan Gebang, khususnya Gebang Kidul Kelurahan Sananwetan. Patung itu murni berasal dari swadaya warga Gebang dan atas prakarsa warga juga, ujar Sonny di Istana Gebang, Minggu (4/7/2021).

The applicants behind a proposed asphalt plant in Tyrone Township failed to show for a review before the Planning Commission Tuesday night.
The virtual meeting had at least 76 participants â with the majority being residents opposed to the project that would be located on 124 acres north of Center Road and west of Old US-23. They have formed a group called Residents for Community Preservation to rally against the plan. Review letters from an independent planning firm for three applications - two rezonings and a special land use - were before the Commission for discussion, with the latter of the two contingent on the rezoning requests being granted. Applicant John Sawyer of Capital Asphalt has supported rezoning of the two parcels from farming residential to M2, Heavy Industrial for the project.
