A Gold Star Families Bike & Jeep Run will be held Sept. 9 through Iroquois County to fundraise for the memorial monument planned for Watseka American Legion Post 23.
A buyer from Waterbury has purchased the former Shamrock Pub & Grill property in Waterbury with plans for opening a restaurant.
“It was a sound investment to see if we can do a restaurant,” said Juan Maposito, of Waterbury.
Maposito is principal of 210 Meadow LLC, the entity that paid $310,000 for the 5,596-square-foot building on one-fifth of an acre at 210 Meadow St. Maposito said he is still contemplating what type of restaurant. It could be a diner, but he is strongly considering Mexican.
A Long Island-based family of investors recently paid $300,000 for the former Webster Bank executive offices in the heart of downtown Waterbury less than half the original asking price for the 111-year-old office building.
The sale of the 15,984-square-foot property at 132 Grand St. in July is the second bargain purchase in downtown Waterbury in eight months for the Mariolis family. Two additional downtown Waterbury purchases are imminent for a family that expects to get in on the ground floor of the Brass City’s central business district.
