The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned against plans by some Nigerians to launch ethno-religious violence in the country.
The warning was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Service, Dr Peter Afunanya.
According to the statement, the targeted states include Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Plateau, Rivers, Oyo, Lagos and parts of South East.
It stated that the plans were targeted at religious centres, leaders and other prominent Nigerians.
Afunanya said intelligence had revealed that the group were working with external forces to incite religious violence across the country.
Anti-tax agency accuses police, FRSC of extortion from public

The Chairman of Cross River State Anti-tax Agency, Bishop Emmah Isong has accused the officials of the Nigeria Police Force and Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) in Cross River State of extorting money from members of the public in the State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and made available to DAILY POST, the Chairman regretted the action of the two federal government agencies, alleging that they extort money from members of the public.
The Chairman again regretted that the illegal extortion of money from members of the public was principally noted mostly along Ikom highway in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River and other areas.
