Access restricted at stadium
WINTERSVILLE Access to the walking track at Kettlewell Stadium is restricted as Indian Creek officials demolish several buildings at the site.
District Assistant Superintendent John Belt said starting Tuesday, no one was be able to use the Lester Carney Track because crews are razing the No. 1 concession stand, and ticket booth which will be replaced by more modern structures.
“All access to Kettlewell Stadium will be blocked from Jan. 4 through Jan. 8 to allow for safe demolition of the stadium buildings. This schedule is, of course, subject to weather,” he said.
The work does affect those who regularly use the walking track but the end result will be newer facilities for the public to enjoy. The project, which is part of the current high school construction plan, includes building a new stand and ticket area as well as a visitors’ locker room and stadium restroom.
